New projects
Finished this Beret from one of my favorite books, More Last-minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. It’s one of my go to pattern books for basic well written patterns.

The yarn I used for my beret was a gift from a friend who visited Iceland. I was thrilled to receive this beautiful skein of Lopi.
Another pattern I’m starting for the New Year is from Joelle Hoverson’s first book Last-minute Knitted Gifts. I’m using this Berocco Yarn, Folio. The superfine alpaca and rayon mix will give the Hourglass Sweater a nice drape.

Christmas Knitting
I’ve been on a blogging vacation. I think I’m ready to get back on track. I have been busily knitting for Christmas. I used to make all my gifts. The last couple of years I’ve started that tradition back up again. I’m hoping it will give me some Christmas spirit. I’ve finished a couple of scarves and a cowl. I feel I have a lot of ideas but I’m going to run out of time. Some may need to be New Years gifts but no matter it’s still a gift from my heart. I found some beautiful patterns. I experimented with a few yarns so I’m having fun with it. I ended up designing a simple cowl pattern using the Star stitch, which I’m now obsessed with. I find as my knitting skills expand, if I don’t like a pattern I end up changing it to my liking. I fail a few times and start again but it makes the process interesting and more fulfilling in the end. Yarn is forgiving and I’m ok with ripping apart a project to start fresh. Here’s what I have so far:
Ma Mouton
Radon Pullover
Gemma Pullover
This is my adapted Gemma Pullover that I finished today. The sleeves I changed to 3/4 and I left out the design on the bands because this yarn (Schulana – cashmere/silk/wool) didn’t give enough stitch definition for it to stand out. It definitely makes up for it with the light weight softness and super stretch fit. I’m definately getting lots of knitting done with this flu.
