Trees are singing

In this beautiful place for a couple nights while I work at HMCS Acadia with cadets. I’m one of the wonderful bunch of nurses on staff at the clinic. I’m grateful to be able to stay at my uncles cottage in Smiths Cove while I’m at the base over the next 6 weeks. So many kids on buses arriving from all over the provinces and the world for training and fun. It’s been interesting to meet up with about 500 of them yesterday and over the next couple days. Great bunch of kids and young adults. I remember my Air Cadet camp days at Greenwood. It is a fantastic opportunity. They seem to have developed the camps into a fun place. I always felt I was getting in trouble by forgetting my cap or my hair was below my collar. I remember we borrowed the beautiful airforce blue uniforms for our final parade. Base staff loaned them to us. We were informed please do not get food on these uniforms. The minute I picked up my tray of spaghetti I had a bad feeling. Crash! My tray landed smack into the back of a regular officers beautiful blues and I got the coldest look from my commanding officer. Oh boy!

Peace is easy in a place like this:)

GASPEREAU VINEYARDS
I had desert of strawberry shortcake. We also sampled their selkie wine, it was totally delicious.

Mahone Bay Adventure

Today was a grand day for gallavanting.  Sunny and hot.  I slept in and landed at Rebecca’s Restaurant at 1300.  My favorite destination for lunch in Mahone Bay.  The menu is always refreshing.  I had Sweet Potato soup, Shrimp and mushroom Risotto cakes with a side salad and for dessert traditional Nova Scotia Strawberry Shortcake.  It was made with the best tea biscuit I’ve had since my grandmother’s for sure.  The new location is brillant.  On Edgewater Street, it has loads of parking and seating.

Right Next door there is a newly opened shop, called Sprig Apothecary, it literally had at all my favourite things for sale.  Succulents, lotions, beautifying products, and pretty little pots.  So I added a little succulent to my growing indoor garden and some beauty products to pamper myself.  It was fun, like a day at the spa, my style.

Down the way I stopped  at Have A Yarn, and found some new color ways.   It’s a new company RavensWood Fibre Co.  A local company!

Another new shop on Main is a sweet little interior design shop.  Here Nor There. I picked up a seagrass basket, and a macrama plant holder.  The plant holder I’ve been ages waiting for and it’s perfect.

I dropped in to Birdsall-Worthington Pottery for a gander and found beautiful hand made earrings.

Finally ended up at Peacocks Antiques and found some awesome vintage clothing, stay tuned for those outfits.  Including a perfect birthday dress for July.

Tea Party

It’s just one of those afternoons.  We’re all tired from our hike.  A little rest and contemplation is in order. I have my knitting…still working on Find My Fade Shawl… and my tea.  Vanilla Rose Ceylon from a local company that blends marvellous teas called North Mountain Coffee.

Gaspereau Trek

Wandered down the White Rock Trail this morning with my pal lulu belle.  The trail runs along the Gaspereau River.  This trail is centuries old, first traveled by the  Mi’kmaq people.  It is one of the most beautiful trails in Nova Scotia.  If you ever have the opportunity to go it’s worth the trip.

Such a smart hiker, my dog totally navigated our way back to the car.  Like my little GPS.  But so much more adorable!  Who needs cell service, bring a smart dog and leave your smart phone behind;)
