The Douglas Notebooks:A Fable by Christine Eddie

This little story had a big impact.  It’s a story of broken families, true love, grief, and the search for meaning in life.  What we all hope to obtain in life, the ultimate, love and acceptance.  A child is born and a mother lost and the father is disabled by grief.  She is taken in and loved by two people brought together, one out of love for the childs mother and another with a sense of duty that turns into a deep affection that mends her broken soul.  The child grows and rekindles a relationship with her father.  They except each other for who they are.  Music is a prominent theme in this book.  Bringing people together.  Mending a broken heart and soothing a grief stricken soul.  It was a quick read I really enjoyed.

I’ve recently had a good look at all the projects I have on the go.  WIP that have taken a back seat.

2. Park Ave Cardigan

3. Sock yarn wrist warmers

4. Tri-color cowl

7. Mohair blanket ruffle shawl

I have a few other ideas with yarn attached to it, but no definates.  I find this year I’m winging it when it comes to knitting.  I don’t want to be confined by the pattern, I feel like I need to create.

I’m Free

Held hostage
my thoughts are not my own.Like a pantomime I go through space.

Controlled from afar.

The ties of a puppeteer constrict my breathing, muffle my emotion.

I’m struggling against their force, feeling the surge of power.

That power feeds my seeds of anger, small growths that are blossoming into a force that I’m fearful to use.

Cutting those ties means freedom,a freedom I’ve been ignoring, holding fast to the past.

Not wanting to go forward alone.

Those ties holding me are made of string, not steel.
They never gave me support, just a false sense of security.

They were never truly holding me, though I felt them.

Like a lie, I need to reveal them for what they are.

False hope, a manipulation of the truth into a fairytale, only they can believe.

I will not be held hostage anymore.
I’m free.

Surprise project

Have you ever started knitting and not have a pattern or any idea what you might make?  Well I received this fluffy mohair blend ages ago from a friend.  It’s pink/brown waves of color in a gigantic ball!!  Any stitch pattern would just get lost in the fluff so I’m straight knitting  an unknown amount of stitches, for however long I feel like it.  I can see a fluffy wrap or shawl like creature taking form…wish me luck!
