It arrived!

It’s that time of year again.  The spring issue of Taproot is here.  There are so many awesome things in this issue.  It’s so relevant to what is going on in my world.  Like they read my mind.  Seriously!  There’s a recipe for rose petal rice pudding and a knitting pattern for a beautiful hat and fingerless mitts.

I’m Free

Held hostage
my thoughts are not my own.Like a pantomime I go through space.

Controlled from afar.

The ties of a puppeteer constrict my breathing, muffle my emotion.

I’m struggling against their force, feeling the surge of power.

That power feeds my seeds of anger, small growths that are blossoming into a force that I’m fearful to use.

Cutting those ties means freedom,a freedom I’ve been ignoring, holding fast to the past.

Not wanting to go forward alone.

Those ties holding me are made of string, not steel.
They never gave me support, just a false sense of security.

They were never truly holding me, though I felt them.

Like a lie, I need to reveal them for what they are.

False hope, a manipulation of the truth into a fairytale, only they can believe.

I will not be held hostage anymore.
I’m free.

What Remains to be Seen

What remains to be seen

He’s painting like a writer writes.
In layers of colour.
Like similes and metaphors.
Transforming meaning with each stroke.

Mixing words into truths.
The colours bleed through.
Another word scratched into place.
Leaving a telltale scar we can trace.

Then a knowing starts to appear before your eyes.
Like words removing their disguise,
A form takes shape,
Demanding to be seen.

But what lies beneath?
Remains to be seen.

Final Thoughts

We had a great time last night at The Rebecca Cohn with The Blue Dot Tour. Inspiring words from David Suzuki made me rise today with a new outlook on our planet and our place in it. Shane Koyczam’s words from his beautiful poem stay with me “the seed can’t see the flower”.

Wednesday Market Day

Today I spent my time finishing projects, and starting new ones. I didn’t travel to my writing group today. I’ve learned that I can’t make time and it won’t stand still for me. My Wisp Wrap is almost complete. Which is good because I want to wear it on Saturday!! I have to decide on ribbons or buttons to secure it. Ribbons would be fun because I can lace it up any which way. The wrap is designed with eyelets around the perimeter.
I found these books at The Box Of Delights bookshop in Wolfville. The cover is what catches my eye then I read the back and first page. If I’m intrigued it’s a go!!

The Wolfville Farmers Market will feed
me before I pick up our CSA share for this week. Our shares have been packed with the local bountiful harvest of late and I’m looking forward to what I may find. Whatever is in season always seems to blend well in a soup, so if all else fails…soups on!! Here’s some great offerings from Frais Catering who will be at tonight’s community supper. Love it!! I wish you could have experienced the wonderful smells from Frais Catering as I was sitting at The Wool n Tart finishing up my commissioned pieces for delivery.

Future projects, the CoBaSi teal/turquoise will be striped socks and the CoBaSi plus in olives will be a drop stitch cowl.

I found these beautiful words in my Taproot Magazine.
