I had a great morning at The Archaeology lab at Saint Mary’s U. We had an expert talk about Ceramics. Some of the examples I recognize from the material finds at Louisbourg. I learned loads, that will help in my Archeaology volunteering and also my antique hunting.

Forensic Anthropology
I was lucky to have been able to attend a lecture at Saint Mary’s University, one of my old stomping grounds, Tuesday evening. Dr Douglas Owlsy is a famous forensic anthropologist from the Smithsonian institute. He has worked on a number of high profile Cases, Jeffery Dalmer, 9-11, and I recognize him from Forensic Files. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time he spoke of his latest project involving the remains found in the Cheasapeake bay area. Namely Jamestown and Saint Mary’s. It was a hard life for those colonists and the hardships were apparent in the bones they left behind. It was fascinating.

I stayed until after question period. I have now joined as a life-time member of the NS Archeaology society. Their upcoming monthly talks sounds super interesting to this Archeaology nerd;)

Wicked weekend
Saturday, we traveled to Mahone Bay and Lunenburg to have lunch and shop around. We had lunch at Rebecca’s. The chef is very talented. Take a look.
Found a pretty dress at Luvly in Lunenburg. Canadian made. I love when the tag says Made in Canada!
Yesterday at Have A Yarn in Mahone Bay I found some new projects:
Today I had a lace knitting workshop at The Loop in Halifax.
This yarn I will use to make the Wirbel Shawl by Sue Berg. A one skein project!
So…..
We loved the Addams Family Musical! It was full of sly humor and terrific dance numbers. I’m always amazed by the costuming, make up and stage effects. Sometimes I pay more attention to those details than the actual story. It’s a delicious buffet for my senses. I remembered my high school musical days down in the “pit”, playing music for Brigadoon. The cast and crew did a marvellous job.
We have such talent here in Nova Scotia. I wish our government could see the wealth in funding our cultural endeavours. Art and culture is what makes us human.
