Flax Harvest
I had a fun few hours helping to harvest my CSA farm’s field of flax. I love getting my fingers in the soil. Hand harvesting makes you connect with the soil like nothing else. It’s inspiring to see a community of like-minded people come together for a common goal. Harvest flax, make fibre, make clothes. The spinning display was a marvel. I need to add spinning to my life for sure.

Louisbourg Day Five
My last day was great. I found a few more clues to the inscription. We were able to spend the afternoon doing some rescue archeaology on the shoreline. A burial has become exposed due to coastal erosion.
A nice way to spend an afternoon. Listening to the crashing waves and coastal birds.
18th century fashion
The handcraft guild at Louisbourg creates beautiful things. This 18th century ladies pocket I purchased today at The Fortress gift shop. They make great yarn bags. I like the idea of having a pocket to tie on. I probably could make it steampunkish. Well I could try…
Louisbourg Day Four
Happy Birthday to me!!! I had a great day. I volunteered in collections this morning then went exploring around The Fortress. I found another piece of the puzzle. Look at what they have to work with, it’s very intriguing.

Another day and I found another tiny piece of the puzzle. “Hap” etched on a piece of window glass. I’d like to think it is the word happy but of course there are other options.
This is the piece I found yesterday… The plot thickens.
Louisbourg Day 2
A few discoveries today and a lot of questions still to be answered. The longer I delve into the bits and pieces the more I want to know. I found part of an etched inscription today. I’m feeling more and more like a code breaker. I used to love criptoquotes as a kid. I guess those interests that you develop as a kid, turn into your passions when you are an adult.
